The Prime Minister of India is Head of the Government and is the leader of the political party having majority in Parliament. He is the most senior minister of cabinet in executive branch of India government. He is the one who selects and dismisses other members of cabinet and allocates the posts to them. The Prime Minister is appointed by the honourable President of India. The incumbent prime minister is Mr. Manmohan Singh since May 22, 2004.
